Too Nerdy for Words [Jun. 29th, 2006|08:59 am]
Alice Pane

I have been working on a character for the Friday night Vampire game, Liza Whitney. Well, technically I am reworking a character I used to play as an NPC. But still, fleshing out something on paper that was only needed in your head before is hard work. I painfully put only starting points on her character sheet and looked at all the sad, unfilled dots. I am resisting spending my mountain of bonus eeps on a character I am not in love with. Yes, I have a mountain of bonus eeps from my 10 months on staff - or so. When the battle became too much I tried to simply write up her background; this did not reveal itself to be less difficult for me. Right in the middle of my agonizing it was time to pick Chris up from work. Discussing my frustration and generally just talking about Vampire it somehow came up that I could give Liza Cauldron of Blood with my mountain of bonus eeps. This inevitably lead to a scenario where Liza had killed someone in a room an promptly gotten caught by the populace. How would she explain herself?

Warning, some of these make no sense if you are not in the vampire game.  Thank you Chris for making the list, lets think of more!

1. Cristobal did it.

2. A Shadow Lord killed him and jumped out the window. Quick, we can still catch him! What do you mean, why isn't the closed window broken?

3. Corpse? Oh my god, there's a corpse in here!

4. Rainier did it.

5. No really, the Prince did it. Can he confirm my story? Of course he can, just let me talk to him for a second.

6. This is not the corpse you're looking for.

7. Julian Luna ordered him killed.

8. Eddie Fiori did it.

9. Meyer did it.

10. I couldn't have done it, I abhor violence.

11. Mortimer did it! (Ding ding, we have a winner!)

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me.

It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.

Best segue ever. [Jun. 7th, 2006|11:56 pm]
Alice Pane
My friend Ty is getting married in the Fall of ‘07. We were talking a little bit today on IM when this gem occurred. I had to put it on LJ. If you know my brother at all you will be amused.

Ty: [My fiancé] was going to go look at dresses today but her brother cut his fingers off with a lawnmower
Ty: speaking of which how’s your brother?
Me: ...wow
Me: That was a great segue.

Birthday soon [May. 23rd, 2006|11:05 am]
Alice Pane
My birthday is on the first of June, I know a lot of folks are having birthdays or have had them recently as well. And happy birthday to all of us. I don’t have any plans for it. Actually, with the exception of the awesome birthday party akonken threw for me a while back I haven’t had a party since my sophomore year in high school (that I can recall). Anyone who WANTS to plan something with me/for me should contact darksonic. Don’t make me plan my own party, please? I am woefully out of practice. The last one I planned had a clown.

New User Icon [May. 22nd, 2006|10:59 pm]
Alice Pane
To help understand the aspects of myself that are squid-like I have added a new LJ icon.  When I have the time I will draw one myself and put it up instead, for now this one is red and pretty.  In related news I am in my typical Monday evening grump.  This is the time when I realize that I left a warm bed with Darksonic in it this morning and it will be a whole week before I see him again.  Rolling around my room, on and off the computer, munching on contraband dining hall cookies.

Still thinking about tattoo ideas, and taking tips from this site:

Working on dreamscape [May. 16th, 2006|10:35 pm]
Alice Pane
I need to save the below link for myself for future research about my dreamscape for Thea's pocket shrine.

In other news, I think my totem animal is a squid.  I am not saying that without thought.  There was a very personal dream I had a long time ago that leads me to believe it is so (which I thought I posted to LJ but can‘t find now).  Keep in mind that I have never been a ‘totem animal’ kind of girl.  Mostly because I got sick of hearing it from people I knew.  No offence to anyone but the next person who claims theirs is A) a cat B) a raven or C) a wolf needs to be eaten by that very animal.

Wow, I am a bit aggressive today.

My new word [May. 16th, 2006|02:23 pm]
Alice Pane
Ok, this isn’t MY new word. But, I did submit it to Merriam-Webster's Open Dictionary after some research and discussion with phoebe. And it is online!

The submission:

1. confined to or focusing on a single form or manner of expression or communication.
2. Having only one form and/or function.

“Some writers are monomodal, but I write novels and poetry.”

"The issue is too complex for a monomodal solution."

Article Source:
“A wide range of modes, ‘visual, written, spoken, aural, performative and gestural’ contribute to meaning-making...multimodal approaches are theoretically more equitable than monomodal pedagogies….”
-- Thesen, Lucia 2001

(Wow, what I post whore I am today.  I blame all the work I should have done but didn’t.)

Oh no I am a shirt thief! [May. 16th, 2006|01:01 pm]
Alice Pane
My mother put this puma tank top that was too small on my pile of clothes to take up to Davis with me after the weekend washing. This happens a lot so I didn’t think anything of it. I wore it to sleep in and was wearing it today when my roommate suddenly said ‘Hey, is that my shirt?” My response was “No…my mom gave it to me.” She said, “It really looks like my shirt.” We investigated her closet and found that her shirt WAS missing. I took it off and said I would wash it and get it back to her. She left for the day too late for me to figure out what had happened and relay the story to her. Now she thinks I am a shirt thief and I liar.

What really happened. The shirt fell off her hanger or got pushed off her dresser and into my laundry pile. I didn’t notice this. It got washed along with all my other stuff, also without me noticing. My mother insanely folded everything when I didn’t do it two seconds after the load was done. She happened to put the Puma tank top on top of the pile, making me assume it was new and from her. Then, roomie sees shirt, thinks I lie about where I got it and I am left feeling the need to explain myself to someone while I wait for her to get home.

I am not a bad person, well, not about shirt stealing.
